West China College
of Stomatology,
Sichuan University
has long been
known as the birth
place of the
modern stomatology
and the earliest
hospital of
stomatology in
China. The
initiation of our
college, a dental
clinic called Ren
Ji Dental Clinic
was founded in
1907, and then
expanded to the
first dental
hospital in China
in 1912. In 1917
the medical
faculty of West
China Union
University (WCUU)
established a
department of
dentistry and in
1921 the status
was raised to the
college of
dentistry of WCUU.
In 1928 the
college of
Medicine and
dentistry formed
the joint college
of medicine and
dentistry of WCUU.
It was renamed as
Hospital of
Stomatology,
Sichuan Medical
College in 1953.
In 1985, it was
granted a name as
the College of
Stomatology, West
China University
of Medical
Sciences and was
changed into West
China College of
Stomatology,
Sichuan University
in 2000.
West China College
of Stoamtology,
Sichuan University
has 300
well-equipped
dental units and
200 beds for
patients and we
have annually
served for 400
thousand patients
in outpatient
clinics and for
3000 patients
treated in
inpatient wards.
Our college
involves a series
of specialties in
endodontics,
periodontics, oral
medicine,
prosthodontics,
cleft lip and
cleft palate,
maxillofacial
reconstruction,
head and neck
tumor,
orthognathic and
TMJ surgery,
dental
implantology,
orthodontics and
so on to serve for
various patients
who have
stomatological
diseases over
China.
As an important
part of this
comprehensive
system. West China
College of
Stomatology,
Sichuan University
provides a strong
support and makes
great
contributions to
professional
teaching training
and intensive
academic research.
Our college has 12
sub-departments
according to the
different special
majors.
Oral Biomedical
Engineering Lab is
a very important
base serving for
the intensive
research for
staffs and
postgraduate
students in our
college as well as
all over China. It
was built by our
college and was
approved by the
Ministry of Public
Health, China,
Ministry of
Education, China,
and Sichuan
Province. This lab
occupied 5600m2
area, and was
equipped with
advanced
facilities so as
to attract
intensive research
groups.
Promoting
international
exchange and
cooperation with
colleagues over
the world is the
permanent policy
of our college.
Our college has
built a well
developed
relationship with
universities and
colleges in USA,
Canada, Japan,
Germany, France
and UK, Korea and
universities in
regions of Hong
Kong, Taiwan and
Macau. |
