West China Research Laboratory of Stomatology, established in 1936, is the first research laboratory of stomatology in China. The founder is Dr. Ashley W. Lindsay who graduated from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons in Toronto, Canada. The laboratory has experienced several name changes: Dental Research Department, West China Union University; Research Institute of Stomatology, Sichuan Medical College; Key Laboratory of Stomatology, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Sichuan Province and State Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases. International Journal of Oral Science issued in 2008 is the first English journal with NSSN and ISSN in Chinese Stomatology. The journal was indexed by Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and PubMed(MEDLINE) database in 2010.
